Treating Dental Caries

Filling The Tooth

Dental Caries is a microbial disease causing the teeth to disintegrate thus causing pain of varying degree. It can be treated in the earlier stages by filling the tooth. For this purpose, we have a variety of tooth compatible materials. There are also tooth colored fillings (composite restorations), which are aesthetically very pleasing, done by polymerization with a high intensity light. This technique is used to repair the broken or chipped off edges of a tooth also.

Inlays,  Onlays / Veneers

Inlays and onlays are often referred to as partial crowns. They use the existing tooth as a base and fit the inlay or onlay onto the tooth. This is done to strengthen the tooth, restore its shape, and prevent further damage. An inlay is done when there is no damage to the cusps of the tooth and the inlay can be placed right on the tooth. An inlay is used

Dental veneers (sometimes called porcelain veneers or dental porcelain laminates) are wafer-thin, custom-made shells of tooth-colored materials designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve your appearance. These shells are bonded to the front of the teeth changing their color, shape, size, or length.

Root Canal Treatment (RCT)

However, when caries extend deep and cause the nerve to be exposed then Root Canal Treatment (RCT) is the best option in which the irritated nerve is removed and is replaced by a inert root filling. With this procedure, the tooth will never encounter any pain. To further protect the structure of the tooth, it is covered by a full porcelain crown.

What Types of Crowns Are Available

Porcelain-fused-to-metal dental crowns (PFM) can be color matched to your adjacent teeth (unlike the metallic crowns). However, more wearing to the opposing teeth occurs with this crown type compared with metal or resin crowns

Terkom Cera All-ceramic or all-porcelain dental crowns provide better natural color match than any other crown type and may be more suitable for people with metal allergies. All-ceramic crowns are a good choice for front teeth.

Zirconium or milled crown which are digitally constructed either in an office that has the software and hardware to produce them or in a dental lab. Dental offices that have the software and hardware have the ability to produce a crown in one visit with no need for a temporary. These crowns require no impression.
